Urgent, Acrylic on panel, 14" x 11", 2020.
While in quarantine and experiencing creative blocks within the confines of my home, I decided I want to experiment with finger painting. Using a process using improvisation, I witnessed an interaction between first responders and one of my neighbors. This felt like a perfect opportunity to continue to paint based on what I saw and experienced in that moment of total reality. The work's meaning took a turn to respect the essential workers and how important they were during the pandemic.
