Ally Albertz was born in 2000 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her early career observed the environmental impacts on the individual and searching for a place in her community. Ally’s practice now is directed toward asking the right questions and giving the audience time to reflect on their ideals. She recently earned her BFA from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program. Ally intends to give back to her community by volunteering for various organizations like the Contemporary Arts Center. She continues to reveal the absurd in her paintings.
Ally Albertz’s practice consists of exploring multiple mediums such as acrylic paint, oil paint, Prismacolor, graphite, charcoal, and other experimental media like sound and fabric. She uses self-portraiture, abstraction, and symbolism to analyze themes like the viewer’s gaze on the body and the reciprocality of human relationships between each other and objects. Ally uses vivid colors, radiant lighting, and surreal compositions to encourage self-reflection within herself and her audience. Ally aspires to continue to grow as a human being and artist while also revealing the realities of humanity’s beloved systems.
