Maidens of the Cosmic Body Running (or MOTCBR) is an art group consisting of three women, Lisa Sider, Denise Burge, and Jenny Ustick. The group is based out of Cincinnati, Ohio that debuted in 2008. Their work consists of themes of relaxation and sensuality. The exhibition I assisted with was the “Better Close than Never” 2022 artist residency at the Summit Hotel. This exhibition dealt with the romance of two nearby rivers merging and the role of nature within this relationship. The glisten from the moon’s reflection off the intertwining river currents, the tree branches calmly swaying as they witness these blissful interactions, or the rocks that nuture a glowing coat from laying along the water’s edge. These relationships were represented through interactive installations, 2D photographic prints, paintings, sculptural elements, costumes found in their videos and even a performance at the opening. Somewhere between fear and desire, their lies a lunar devotion that the group continues to honor on every full moon.

The gallery became a space for RXLN.

MOTCBR believe “in the power of photographic image as a vehicle for romance.”
